Favorite Music Video

I don't have an idol, but if I did

it would have to be Brandi Carlile.

I would really like to be a musician, just like her. I'd love to sing like her and where those clothes and play guitar. I've wanted to do that for a long time. However, I don't have the pipes, the clothes or the guitar. But maybe someday.

This is my favorite music video. It really speaks to my experience in finding love. It's totally melodramatic, and makes me cry all the time. I don't have this particular song on our playlist because I have to limit how many times I listen to this song. But if you haven't heard it or seen the video, you really should. My brother Stephen introduced me to it, and like he said, "it rocks."

Enjoy "The Story," Brandi Carlile

and in Acoustic
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you
I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby I broke them all for you
Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
Yeah you do and I was made for you
You see the smile that's on my mouth
Is hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what I've been through like you do
And I was made for you...
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you
Oh yeah, it's true... I was made for you.

P.S. One of the things that makes this song what it is is the hook in the bass line. Can anyone guess what other well-known song has this same hook?

Okay it's "With or Without You" by U2. Sory to spoil it. Listen, you can hear it!

Hey I really like those words! I must have lived under a rock for awhile or something because I didn't even know who Brandie was until my friend had me go to a concert with her at the Mt. Baker theater. Same goes for Wicked! I didn't know what that was all about until I was in London for a day and a half lay over and another friend said if all we do here is see Wicked, I will be satisfied. I didn't even really like Musicals and I'm contemplating seeing Wicked in Seattle which would be my 3rd time within a year and a half! A little crazy I know. I can't say I know Brandie Carlile music like Wicked, but I enjoy her music too! Did you know that she's from this area?

Whew! What a long comment and I totally got off point! LOL

What?! Brandi Carlile is from here???!!! I had no idea! You actually saw her in concert? Holy cow! I assumed she was a Brit. I don't know why. I like so many famous Brits I just assume a famous person I like is a Brit (that's kind of dumb now that I think about it). I had no idea! Will she have another concert out here do you think? Was it cool? She seems decent but is she in person? You know how some concerts are like too trashy or depressing? What was it like? You seriously went to her concert?!!

Ok, I realize that comment made it seem like Brandi is really my idol...so I guess all that no idol talk was just for appearances.

Alicia you are so funny! Yep, I went to her concert on a whim. I have gone to a total of... let's see, I think I can remember only going to a total of two concerts in my life and that was one of them, haha!! I think you are in luck though because it seems as if she comes the MBT each year. I went in October of 2008 and it looks like she already came in February for 2009. Yes, yes, yes... she is so laid back, REALLY nice, and presents a nice and enjoyable concert. Totally NOT trashy at all. She even chatted with people afterwards, but I didn't really know much about her at the time so I didn't fight the crowds. Nice thing is, the MBT is kind of small so it's not like the there were TONS of people. You should check out when she's coming again, you would definitely enjoy it!
